All I know for sure is that the chart I read online was very clear that yellow means disappointment. And that's sad.

We don't have yellow as an option, though.

carnations as a whole are fascination
distinction
devotion. but familial and romantic.
the colors are different but. not a proposal. at least since the 16th century.

White is purity and red is love and desire. Which is rather standard, as far as colors go, and not terribly creative.

Yellow is, yes, disappointment or rejection. Which seems very unkind to yellow, but at least is an interesting choice.
