I'm social. I'm the type of person that hangs on to people no matter how long it's been, so I've still got groups from childhood, wizarding society, and of course the university.

I've just distanced myself a little the past two years. I didn't want the pity, I just needed space [...] but I think in a few cases there's probably been a bit too much space.

I will. Most of them thought this sabbatical was a good idea, until they found out what I was doing with it.

A break from teaching to do research or write essentially, without the pressures of work.

I know, but they're great, you'll like them. And the ones that stuck around Carmarthen are mostly married but always looking for an excuse for several pints and to talk shit about me.
