boss battle (posted early!)
WHO: Anyone who wants to fight.
WHEN: Friday, April 26th.
WHERE: HQ.
WHAT: Maya and Byron make a discovery; a showdown ensues.
WARNINGS: Violence, insects, bats, possible NPC death.
As evening falls on FRIDAY, APRIL 26TH, NEWTON & SILVIA lead MAYA & BYRON to a location that neither of them have been able to get out of their heads since regaining some of their memories, though neither can remember precisely why. Newton and Silvia direct them to a small, nondescript storage closet down the hall from the kitchens that appears to be a collection of old cleaning implements. Once inside, however, Silvia feels drawn toward a carving of a spider on a back wall. She presses the spider, and the back wall opens to reveal a winding staircase leading to… where, exactly?
MAYA & BYRON ask their friends to meet them there, then the whole group descends the staircase together.

BOSS BATTLE
As evening falls on FRIDAY, APRIL 26TH, NEWTON & SILVIA lead MAYA & BYRON to a location that neither of them have been able to get out of their heads since regaining some of their memories, though neither can remember precisely why. Newton and Silvia direct them to a small, nondescript storage closet down the hall from the kitchens that appears to be a collection of old cleaning implements. Once inside, however, Silvia feels drawn toward a carving of a spider on a back wall. She presses the spider, and the back wall opens to reveal a winding staircase leading to… where, exactly?
MAYA & BYRON ask their friends to meet them there, then the whole group descends the staircase together.
THE LAIR
[VOLUNTEER 1] takes the lead and is the first to enter the heavy, ornate double doors at the bottom of the stairs. They pull them open with an eerie creeEEEEeeeaAAAkk and light the way for their companions.
Our intrepid Adventurers enter a massive circular room with shelves lined with snow globes, each one of them containing a trapped, slumbering Adventurer: Cadmus' "collection". At the center of the room is a baroque coffin, and on the wall above it, a large painted portrait of Cadmus Scantlebury himself. CINDER lifts the lid of the coffin and verifies that the vampire is not inside.
Everyone turns around when [VOLUNTEER 3] shrieks, but they are only being attacked by a swarm of spiders rather than an ancient vampire.
This, however, alerts a Mynah bird that has been lurking in the shadows, and it flaps over to sit before them and speaks, "You really shouldn't have come here. I would have taken him out eventually. This place is like a library of useful faces to wear. Suppose he might as well add you to the hoard." The bird transforms into YANA GETGOOD, who seems annoyed and inconvenienced, but ready to fight.
[VOLUNTEER 4] accidentally backs into a shelf and knocks over a snow globe, freeing the [BEING OF YOUR CHOICE] inside. BARBIE uses this distraction as an opportunity to throw a metal candle holder at Yana's head.
Unfortunately, the loud clatter that results alerts the gigantic vampire bat that's been resting up high in the lair's domed ceiling, and CADMUS SCANTLEBURY himself descends in bat form to meet the intruders.
He transforms back into a humanoid and sighs. "You know, it's a pity, really. This batch was pretty entertaining. I was hoping to keep you out a bit longer before globe-in' you. Oh well, sucks to suck."
Cadmus casually reaches into his pocket and tosses a couple of snowglobes like Poké Balls, releasing the befuddled wizard thralls inside.
"Get 'em," Cadmus orders, and with that, the fight begins.

CONCLUSION
With Cadmus defeated (thank you BRODERICK) and Yana in custody (thank you BRACKEN), all of the trapped snowglobe people are freed and their memories returned to them.
ALL PARTICIPANTS may receive a portion of Cadmus' riches and roll 1d20 to receive a TBD magical loot item from his lair.
Backup from Quest Fellowship arrives to find the day already saved, but that doesn't stop them from planning a party to celebrate the defeat of their longtime foe.

FIGHT!: Bracken
WHO ARE THEY FIGHTING?: Yana~
WHAT IS THEIR STRATEGY?: Distract (Blooper) & immobilize (Bracken). Blooper teleports onto Yana, whether she's a bird (includes dragging her down to ground level) or human. He can blink himself around at will, so it's a HERE! no THERE! no THERE! kind of thing. When she's distracted by all of this cat business, Bracken goes in fighting with claws and fangs out to try and incapacitate her.
SKILL LEVEL 1-5: 5??? Bracken's gone feral.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO NOTE: please understand how v chaotic this was.

Blooper manages to distract Yana successfully—she had not been expecting a teleporting cat to join the fight, and that's enough to throw her off-guard. Feral wolf Bracken uses this distraction to take her down before she can turn into him or any other scary thing. In a fight that can only be described as a chaotic kerfuffle, Team Bracken & Blooper comes out on top. With Yana incapacitated and neither teammate injured (I'm not going to give injuries to a kitty cat!!!), this fight is a resounding success!
Bracken also obtains a BONUS ITEM (roll 1d20 to determine which item)!
