It's okay, you know? If you can't. You said it might not be possible when we met, and to not get my hopes up. I haven't and won't. We're friends now, and I know because of that you want better for me. But what you said is still true.

And it doesn't make everything you've already done and are doing less valid or kind.

The fact that you and Maya survived how you did, managed to keep each other and other people safe? That's sterner stuff, Sharona. Give yourself more credit, and don't tell yourself you can't do something before you've had a chance to even work on it. It's only going to make it harder.
