I'd like to invite any of the Quest Fellows (and the rest of Adventure Society) to join the Adventure Society Knowledge Department for trivia this Tuesday. It's an opportunity for us all to get to know eachother better outside of this building -- a different, probably less bloody kind of sparring, if any of you are game.

[KNOWLEDGE DEPARTMENT]
Good Morning everyone. You may have already seen the newest addition to our lounge - asuspiciousgift from the Administration* to help facilitate "better comradery and culture, my dudes." I am hoping it makes our lounge a more welcoming place for you all. You're all brilliant with a lot to share with eachother...and frankly us nerds need to stick together. [...] I've already been made aware that the cushions are incredible deep and fluffy, and that one intern has already disappeared into it and had to be retrieved. Please be careful.
Some reminders and announcements:
- Departmental Meetings will be occurring once a month on Wednesdays. We'll try the next one in the conversation pit
if no one is swallowed by it, but otherwise, they'll continue to be held in the employee lounge. Knowledge Department Heads will still be meeting weekly on Mondays.- Ainslie Grey will be my new assistant. Please include her on any e-mails to me related to the Department.
- We're incredibly lucky to have Barbie join the Library staff as the newest Night Librarian - welcome Barbie! As the library spellwork begins to settle, we will be looking to hire more librarians.
- The Departmental field trip to the grand opening of Godzilla: King Of Monsters at the ROMM (Royal Ontario Museum of Magic) is later this month. If anyone has suggestions of somewhere to go for dinner and drinks after, just let Ainslie know.

I've been speaking with Elliot, the Head Librarian for Quest Fellowship, and he was incredibly helpful with answering some of the questions we've had [ooc: pretend that Broderick is sharing this as a compiled list of information]
In particular he's shared these safety guidelines (ooc: we don't have guidelines so just assume reasonable typical workplace safety ones) for all authorized Questing Associations, guidelines he says Scantlebury was expelled for when the Society members went missing. As you can see, there's also considerable personal animosity. Has anyone learned anything else? I'm still trying to meet with Baudelaire - was anyone more successful with that?

I know you're trying to be helpful, so please don't take this the wrong way, but:
I was going to get my PhD and become a teacher, and now I can't do that because I'm basically out of commission for 1/4 out of every month.
I wanted to get married and have a family, and I can't do that either.
I look at the future and all I can see is fear and pain and being alone. The Hemmings don't really understand that because being a wolf is normal and fun for them, and all I get is agony and a hole in my memory in which I may or may not have done horrific things.
There's not really a better future for me, and the sooner I accept that, the sooner I can stop dwelling on what I wished I could be.

But don't take this the wrong way either: you don't know any of this for certain. I know multiple people have told you that there are bitten wolves who do lead pretty fulfilled, normal lives. We live in a supernatural community that bitten werewolves have been a part of for a long time, there will be accommodations in place. I teach Byron, most tenured professors aren't available every day of the week even. There are possibilities here that we can explore. And maybe they won't work out, but why shouldn't we try?
I just...think you're really determined to see no way out of this, and that's your prerogative, but I think you're being unfair to yourself. And as your older brother I don't want to see you putting limits when you don't even know what they actually are yet.

I'm not sure how I could subject anyone to this and claim to love them. And I'm a danger to children. I could never feel safe around them. Maybe there are some bitten wolves who have some sort of life but there are also a greater number that don't. I don't want to put anyone at risk just because I'm lonely.
I don't want to aim too high and get disappointed.

All I'm asking is that you be open to seeing what is out there, before deciding anything about what isn't possible. And yeah, I can understand the not wanting to get your hopes up, so let's just keep things small for now.

I'm trying to find somewhere to finish my PhD. That's something, right?
